I read the story behind the new song "I'm a Used To Be" and it is sad to think that so many people are "conforming" to the things of this world. I grew up in an old country church in the Doogan mountains called "Hopewell Baptist Church" where it was not uncommon to hear shouting, running up & down the aisles and most of all sincere prayers for lost loved ones and neighbors. I'm so proud of the Epperson family "Singing Echoes" that I have had the priviledge of hearing and loving over the years. Keep on keeping on! Love & Prayers Always

In my lifetime I have been a lot of different things. Things that I am glad to have been and some that I wish I had never been. I used to have baby teeth, now I have some real meat grinding choppers! I used to have a bicycle when I was young to get around with, now I have a car. I was single, now I'm married. What a change that made. We were just a married couple, then we had two beautiful children. What an amazing change that was! I used to work for minimum wage, God gave me a job making much more. Such a blessing. But of all the things I used to be or have, the one thing that really mattered was that I didn't have Jesus. You see because I didn't have Jesus I was bound for a place called hell. A place of terrible torment that is eternal. Without Jesus I would be doomed to spend the rest of eternity in that awful place. Now because of his marvelous grace, I will spend eternity in heaven. It's for that reason I am inclined to worship the "old time way". I believe that the same Jesus that died on the cross 2000 years ago is the same Jesus that we worship today. I believe that the God that my grandparents served for so many years with joyful tears and shouts, is the same God that I serve today. I believe that the same God who was on the throne when Elijah called the fire down, is the same God I serve today. For this reason I believe we should worship today as they did then. I am tired of the "sanctimonialism" that some Christians have today. I may not shout like some do, but I too believe in the old time way. So if I'm a used to be that's fine by me! THANK GOD FOR THE OLD TIME WAY!
